Job Title:  Sales and Marketing Manager

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Job Purpose: This role accomplishes sales and marketing objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs; developing field sales action plans with the aim of meeting set targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Implement the Sales and Marketing strategy for the Company as outlined in the Company policy.
  2. New business development; Prospect for new clients/customers and turn this into increased business. Cold call as appropriate within the market or geographical area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities,
  3. Improve product marketability and profitability of the company by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities; advice the management on new product listing that is on demand from customers,
  4. Engage with stakeholders and clients for purposes of retention, growth and new business opportunities,
  5. Client retention; Present new products and enhance existing relationships. Work with sales team to meet customer needs. Arrange and participate in internal and external client briefing.
  6. Maintain, promote and enhance a positive corporate image of the organization through effective positioning and branding.
  7. Improve the online presence of the company through use of digital marketing strategies and channels,
  8. Implement daily sales reporting and monitoring tools that will provide data necessary for carrying out periodic analysis of the company’s market performance,
  9. Increase the daily collections from clients via the sales and marketing team, in order to improve the cash position of the firm, generating orders from customers,
  10. Reach out to new untapped institutional accounts within the region and recruit them,
  11. Train, develop, coach, motivate and supervise the sales team. Coordinate with key suppliers to train the sales team on product knowledge on their product for ease of selling.
  12. Achieve and surpass agreed upon individual sales targets and outcomes within schedule. Utilize available resources e.g. discounts, visiting long gone customers etc, to generate business.
  13. Keep a performance tracker and periodic appraisals of sales people, in conjunction with the HR Department. Follow up with sales reps on targets, updating them regularly on the variances plus the timeline. Drive performance management on the key performance indicators including sales revenue, sales volume and product availability.
  14. Ensure Sales Team and Brand Managers comply with all processes (Company policies, etc.) to make sure that customers receive excellent service,
  15. Investigating and handling minor grievance and minor disciplinary issues among sales people and customers to ensure solution and referring all major issues to the HR Department and giving details and recommendations on the same,
  16. Implement the company’s social responsibility policy
  17. Coordinating with the Purchasing Manager, share advice on regulating order level quantities of  items to be purchased at a given time,
  18. Follow up with the Credit Control Manager and ensure that key account customers issue their cheques in due time and if not, make follow up to collect or pursue recovery process,
  19. Plan and execute promotions of products, coordinate and guide the media in case of upcoming company promotions or adverts,
  20. Coordinate quarterly Company’s major event days i.e. Valentine’s day, Easter Holiday , Ouru Open day and Black Friday, 
  21. Sharing the inflation rates on a monthly basis to aid the CEO calculate the sales targets for the sales reps,
  22. Competitors Marketing Analysis: Be up to date and report activities – pricing, new products, marketing activities to gain an edge over the rest based on their factual competitions marketing activities. Evaluate market trends, gather competitor information, and identify trends that affect current and future growth of regional sales and profitability for decision making,
  23. Monitor products distribution and consumer reactions through holding regular sales meetings, focus group discussion and market research etc,
  24. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor and or management.

Requirements.

Level of Education, Professional Qualification and Experience:

  1. Bachelor degree in sales & marketing, business or a related field,
  2. At least 4 years experience in a FMCG environment,
  3. Should possess excellent planning, negotiating, and organizing skills,
  4. Excellent management skills and interpersonal communication
  5. Should have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  6. Excellent sales and customer service skills,
  7. Membership of a professional marketing body is an added advantage.
  8. Results driven individual,
  9. Attention to detail, aggressive and self – driven,
  10. Presentable,
  11. Report writing skills,
